New Year's Eve

First Real Day of Work, Last Day of the Year

Location: Puerto Cayo -> Montanita

9am: Meet at the Junta. We split into groups, and began brainstorming based on the ideas from last night's meeting with Oscar (our leader).

Afternoon: Trek to Montañita. Bus ride to our New Years destination, a small surfing town famous for its annual midnight surfing on midnight. Checked in to the motel, and went to explore the festivities of the New Year. This was the first bonding experience for the entire group and probably the best way to end the old year. Goodbye 2010, we'll always remember this night.

Happy New Years from Puerto Cayo/Montañita!

Pic of the day: (I call it "Beach Break")

The First Day

Meeting with Oscar about the overall goals of the project.

Outcome: Focus on short-term goals for the two short weeks we are here.

Consensus: We're all excited to start!

Bienvenidos

We are all here in Puerto Cayo!

After the snowstorm in the East Coast left some of our traveleres stranded, we finally have our entire group in Puerto Cayo.

Karen (CMC ´11), who was leaving from Bradley, had apparently the only flight that was not cancelled in the entire east coast. So she was able to escape the flight fiasco.

Meanwhile, our very own Yale Group was not so lucky. Lorenzo was stuck in Newark for two days, where he had to deal with 7 hour waiting lines, and sleeping on the floor just to get a spot on a flight to Houston on standby. But he was able to arrive late to Quito (instead of Guayaquil) on the 28th. Sophie and Luci were both able to rebook their flights for the 29th. After much hassle, Luci, Sophie and Lorenzo met up in Guayaquil late on the 29th, and finally on December 30th, 2010, they were on the way to the unknown territory of Puerto Cayo, where many surprises awaited.

More info and pictures to come soon!

Melis, you are sorely missed.
